What is key coding?

A key code is a simple, effective way to track the response produced from a specific list. It’s a set of unique alphabetical or numeric characters recorded on the response that tells the marketer which list produced the response.

Each individual list is assigned a unique key code. As responses are received, the key codes are recorded and the lists from which they are received are identified. The key code enables the marketer to precisely measure the response rate for each list.
